Mandi Alexander had just started a new job at the Dolly Madison Bakery in Great Bend, Kansas. She had only
worked there 3 days. She had just moved into a new apartment that she had decorated all up with her angels in the living
room & her cows in the kitchen. She was looking forward to starting a new life for her children & herself.
Her two children, ages 4 yrs & 6 months, were her life. Her world revolved around them. Everything
she did was to make the best for them.
On September 4, 2002 around 1:00pm, Mandi dropped off one of her children at the preschool. She
had chatted a few minutes with the teacher. She was happy & excited about all that was going on in her life.
She was at total peace with her life. She walked toward the door of the school & turned to tell her child that she
loved them. She left. She then went to take her baby to the sitter. Then off to work at the bakery she
went.
Somewhere between 5:30pm & 6:00pm on that day a man was seen coming out of the front door to the bakery, he turned
to lock the front door. A customer was walking up to the door & saw this. The man locking the door told
the customer that they were closed, he then turned & walked to the north of the bakery. The customer thought nothing
of it until the next day.
At around 8:00pm that evening a Dolly Madison truck driver stopped to pick up or drop off (unsure) something at the bakery.
He went into the building & found Mandi & Mary's bodies inside the store. He immediately called police.
Mary Drake was a 79 yr old woman who was a customer of the bakery. She stopped in the bakery to buy a loaf of bread.
Great Bend, Kansas is a small community of about 17-18,000 people. The Dolly Madison Bakery sits on a very busy
intersection in town. It's well seen from the main street that runs through Great Bend. This happened in broad
daylight. No one other than the customer witness saw this man that we know of.
How can someone committ a crime like this & walk away without anyone seeing anything? Someone somewhere knows
something.
To date, there has never been an arrest in the case, no prime suspects, not anything.
The last 2 purchase transactions of that day have not been accounted for. They were later in the evening.
Who was it that bought something in that store? Who were the last transactions? Was it the murderer? Was
it someone else? Who?
Mandi went to work that day not knowing that her life was going to end. Mary went to buy a loaf of bread not knowing
her life was going to end. Live each day as if it were your last. Do not take for granted the people in your life.
Love everyone with all you have. Be ready for when God calls you home.
We love & miss you Mandi & Mary.
To the person who did this, WE WILL FIND YOU!!!!!!!!!!
